The team from Russia took the eighth place in the international championship on blind wine tasting. The tournament was held in the South of France in the castle of Saint-Pierre-de-Sergac on October 13.
China (the winner of the year before last) and Sweden (the champion of 2017) took the 13th and ninth places respectively. Last year the Russian team took 17th place, in total, 25 countries took part in the competition.
The top three were France (the third place), Finland (the second place) and Belgium (the first place). In total, 23 countries were represented at the championship.
Training of the Russian team took place at the Divnomorskoe Manor Winery in the Krasnodar Territory. In addition, the company's wines were put on the list of the "blind" samples selected by the organizers for the competition that is recognition of their high quality by respected foreign experts.
All wines of the winery belong to the premium class. They regularly participate in prestigious international competitions such as the International Wine & Spirits Competition, Decanter and Mundus Vini and win awards. Currently, the winery has already won 44 medals including 10 gold medals.
The international blind tasting tournament has been held by La Revue du Vin de France magazine since 2013 in the leading wine-producing regions of France, such as Bordeaux, Champagne, Burgundy and South Rhone. Participating teams from several dozen countries must analyze organoleptic characteristics of 12 wines and determine their varietal composition, region of origin, crop year, as well as the manufacturer. Ten minutes are given for a collective discussion of each sample. Last year the victory was won by the team of Sweden.
